Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old British Bangladeshi young man Mohammed Tanveerul Islam in Bletchley have issued a targeted public appeal for a critical witness operating an e-scooter, following the unconditional release of initial suspects.
Mohammed, a UK-born British Bangladeshi whose family roots originate from Sylhet, sustained a fatal stab wound to the chest during a late-night incident on Brooklands Road. Emergency services were alerted at approximately 11.20pm on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Despite immediate life-saving attempts by emergency personnel at the scene, he died from his injuries. A formal Home Office post-mortem examination completed on Saturday, August 1, 2026, officially confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
Following 48 hours of extensive enquiries, Thames Valley Police revealed that three arrests had initially been made on Thursday evening in connection with the attack. Among those taken into custody on suspicion of murder were a 16-year-old youth from Milton Keynes and a 36-year-old man from Aylesbury. Police have now confirmed that both individuals have been released with no further action taken against them, and neither is any longer treated as a suspect in the murder enquiry.
Major Crime Unit detectives are now centering their efforts on identifying a male rider seen operating an e-scooter in the Water Eaton Road area and wider Central Bletchley in the late evening on Thursday, July 30. The individual was reported to be wearing dark clothing.
Detective Superintendent Jon Capps, of the Major Crime Unit, told journalists that dedicated teams are working tirelessly across multiple operational fronts to trace the killer.
"Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mohammed. Our thoughts remain with them at what is an extremely difficult time. Following the tragic murder and three arrests on Thursday evening, we have spoken to numerous witnesses, completed a significant amount of house-to-house enquiries and CCTV enquires. There are many other developing lines of enquiry and there is a large investigation team working tirelessly to find who is responsible. We recognise that this news will be concerning for the community. This remains a complex investigation and we continue to appeal for your help. We are appealing this afternoon for any information about a male seen on an e-scooter in the Water Eaton Road area and the wider Central Bletchley area in the late evening on Thursday. The only description we have, at this time, is that the male was wearing dark clothing. We would ask anyone who lives in the area with a video doorbell or CCTV, or anyone who was driving in the surrounding area at the time with a dash-cam, to check their recordings in case they captured anything relevant to our investigation and report it to us. If you saw something in the surrounding areas, and are not sure whether you should report it, please get in touch. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be helpful for us to understand more about what took place that night. This is a complicated investigation and our detectives continue to work hard to understand the circumstances and, as always, we remain in close contact with the relevant partners. We are continuing our fast-moving enquiries to bring those responsible for this tragic murder to justice."
Investigators reporting to Daily Dazzling Dawn confirm that police are systematically reviewing digital footage from resident video doorbells, commercial security camera networks, and vehicle dash-cams along transit routes connecting Brooklands Road and Water Eaton Road.
