Prosecutors have told the Old Bailey that a north London man allegedly carried out a series of violent sexual attacks that left two women dead and another seriously injured.

Simon Levy, 40, of Tottenham, has pleaded not guilty to the murders of 54-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo and 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins. He also denies charges of rape and assault involving a third woman who survived the alleged attack.

Opening the prosecution's case, lawyers argued that all three women were particularly vulnerable and were either sex workers or occasionally exchanged sexual services for money or drugs. Prosecutors claimed this was the reason Levy allegedly targeted them, believing they would be less likely to report the crimes or that he could avoid detection.

The court heard allegations that the attacks were sexually motivated. According to prosecutors, while initial sexual encounters may have begun with consent, they allegedly escalated into extreme violence.

Jurors were told that the surviving woman, who had reportedly been trafficked into the UK, was allegedly raped twice in a Tottenham car park in January 2025. Prosecutors said she was strangled, severely beaten, and left unconscious, believing she was going to die.

The woman later reported the alleged assault to police after receiving medical treatment. During the investigation, she identified Levy in an identification procedure, and investigators said her description of the suspect matched him.

The court also heard details surrounding the deaths of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo and Sheryl Wilkins.

Carmenza's body was discovered inside the stairwell of a disused building in Walworth, south London, in March 2025. Prosecutors alleged that DNA evidence linked Levy to both the crime scene and the victim.

Several months later, in August 2025, Sheryl Wilkins was allegedly seen walking with Levy before they entered the same Tottenham car park where prosecutors say the earlier assault had taken place. CCTV footage reportedly showed Levy leaving the area alone, while Wilkins' body was discovered there the following morning.

The prosecution maintains that the incidents form part of a connected pattern of predatory behaviour targeting vulnerable women.

Levy denies all charges against him. The trial continues at the Old Bailey, where jurors are expected to hear further evidence in the coming weeks before reaching a verdict.
