Hollywood actor and independent film producer Shane Ryan Gledhill has been remanded in custody after prosecutors expanded his indictment to 24 felony counts involving the alleged sexual abuse and exploitation of underage victims. The 46-year-old filmmaker, who routinely operated under the professional aliases Shane Ryan and Shane Ryan-Reid, was arrested on 3 August 2026 at his residence in Lompoc, California, following a five-year inquiry conducted by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
Arrest Follows Five-Year Multi-Agency Investigation
Detectives initiated their formal inquiry into Gledhill in November 2021 after a 17-year-old girl came forward to report inappropriate and suspicious conduct dating back to when she was 15. In February 2022, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at the suspect's Courtney Drive property, seizing thousands of digital storage drives and media files that subsequently underwent forensic evaluation. The resulting evidence led investigators to identify at least nine survivors, all of whom were minors at the time the alleged offences took place.
Expanded Indictment and Arraignment Proceedings
Although initially booked on 15 counts, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office upgraded the formal criminal complaint to 24 felony charges during arraignment proceedings. The indictment includes forcible rape, rape of an unconscious or sleeping victim, oral copulation with a minor, child molestation, contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offence, and possession of child sexual abuse material. Gledhill entered a plea of not guilty to all charges in Santa Barbara County Superior Court, where his bail was subsequently increased from $500,000 to $2 million.
Alleged Exploitation of Film Industry Casting Calls
Prosecutors told journalists that Gledhill systematically used independent film auditions and internet casting calls to target and recruit aspiring young actors across the American entertainment sector. Law enforcement agencies stated that his alleged offending spanned approximately 25 years, reaching across the Central Coast, greater Los Angeles, and areas of the East Coast. During his entertainment career, Gledhill secured credits on more than two hundred indie projects alongside cameo appearances in mainstream television programmes.
Appeals for Additional Survivors to Come Forward
Daily Dazzling Dawn understands that authorities published Gledhill's custody photograph to assist potential witnesses who may know him only through his pseudonyms. Santa Barbara County officials coordinate alongside dedicated victim advocacy organisations to provide confidential legal, medical, and emotional assistance to those affected. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office continues to urge anyone with relevant information regarding the suspect's casting activities to contact detective units directly.
