West Midlands Police have launched an urgent investigation after five petrol bombs were hurled at a British Pakistani wedding party outside the Royal Shalimar banqueting suite on Highgate Road in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, on Wednesday evening, 19 August 2026. The coordinated attack targeted both the entrance of the crowded venue, where hundreds of guests were dining, and a fleet of high-value supercars parked along the kerbside, narrowly missing young families and young children.
The incident unfolded shortly before nine in the evening while approximately 500 guests attended a private wedding reception on the upper floor, alongside numerous diners gathered in the ground-floor restaurant.
