Three teenagers have today, May 1, 2026, pleaded not guilty to the murder of 16-year-old Chloe Watson Dransfield during a high-tension hearing at Leeds Crown Court, Daily Dazzling Dawn understand.

Courtroom Erupts During Pleas- The judicial proceedings reached a boiling point today as the packed public gallery erupted in emotional outbursts. Judge Guy Kearl KC, the Recorder of Leeds, was forced to exercise his authority by clearing the courtroom after shouting disrupted the entering of pleas. "It is a court of law and it is extremely important that people behave appropriately," the Judge told journalists, emphasizing that only one family representative from each side would be permitted to stay for the remainder of the hearing to ensure the sanctity of the legal process.

Kayla Smith, 18, Archie Rycroft, 19, and a 17-year-old male—whose identity remains shielded by law—all formally entered "not guilty" pleas to the charge of murder. While Smith appeared via videolink from prison, Rycroft and the youth attended in person. The rejection of the prosecution’s narrative officially sets the stage for a three-week trial, provisionally scheduled to begin on November 10, 2026. A 14-year-old boy arrested in early April remains on police bail as the investigation continues to expand.

Digital Evidence and Online Footage- A critical element of the upcoming trial involves digital forensics and social media evidence. West Yorkshire Police have launched an urgent appeal regarding footage believed to have been shared on TikTok and Snapchat shortly after the fatal attack. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, told journalists that "recovering this footage is vital to establishing the truth." While it is understood that several clips have already been secured, detectives believe more "raw" evidence exists within the community. The police have warned that sharing this footage online could constitute a criminal offence and have urged anyone with files to upload them directly to the police portal.

As the legal machinery grinds forward, Gomersal prepares for a final farewell to the girl her mother called a "stunning, confident, and loyal princess." Chloe’s funeral is set for May 5, 2026, at Dewsbury Crematorium. A horse-drawn carriage will carry the 16-year-old from her family home, symbolizing a final journey of dignity. Local businesses, including The Liversedge on Leeds Road, have announced temporary closures to host the wake, reflecting the deep collective mourning of a town that has rallied around Chloe's mother and two younger siblings.

Chloe was found with a fatal stab wound to the chest on Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe, at 5:55 am on March 28. Following today’s pleas, a secondary case management hearing is scheduled for August to review forensic disclosures. Until then, all three defendants remain in custody. The community continues to leave tributes at the scene, where a photo of Chloe is taped to bouquets of flowers, serving as a silent reminder of a life "extinguished prematurely" as the city awaits the November trial.
