Veteran journalist, columnist, and author Quader Mahmud has passed away today, September 6, 2024, at the age of 81. He died peacefully at home in Cheam, Surrey, around 4:30 pm. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
Quader Mahmud had been battling a long illness. Throughout his distinguished career, he contributed significantly to the Bengali media, having worked with the BBC Bengali section, various newspapers in Bangladesh, and Janomot, the prominent Bengali newsweekly in the UK. He leaves behind two daughters and a son.
