A 34-year-old woman from County Wicklow has had her court proceedings adjourned until early next year after facing a total of 48 counts of theft involving more than €30,000 allegedly taken from a family member. Merwish Ghani, with a residential address at Charlesland Grove in Greystones, appeared across separate sittings at Bray District Court and Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court as the legal process advanced. Daily Dazzling Dawn understands that the allegations relate to transactions occurring over a ten-month period between October 5, 2023, and August 2, 2024. According to court details reviewed by Daily Dazzling Dawn, the total sum in question amounts to €30,742.39, which investigators state was the property of a relative. The individual charges involve sums ranging from €507.71 up to €2,205.42, allegedly executed at a Permanent TSB branch situated along Church Road in Greystones.

Legal proceedings reached a milestone on a Monday earlier in the month when an official book of evidence was formally served on Ms Ghani during a hearing at Bray District Court. Under Irish criminal procedure, a book of evidence is required for indictable offences, serving as the formal presentation of the State's case before a higher court trial. During this appearance, Judge David Kennedy issued a formal alibi warning to the accused. Daily Dazzling Dawn learned that the judge cautioned Ms Ghani that should she intend to rely upon an alibi defense during her eventual trial, she is legally required to notify the prosecution within a strict 14-day window.

Following the service of the book of evidence, the case moved the following day to the Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court. Jonathon Boylan, acting as counsel for the defendant, informed the court that his client was seeking an adjournment to a date in early 2027. Presiding Judge Patrick Quinn granted the application, formally adjourning the matter until January 27, 2027. The case continues to progress through the judicial system under the oversight of the Circuit Court, where further legal arguments and trial preparation are expected to take place ahead of the scheduled date next year.
