A fire broke out in the server room of Osmani International Airport late Sunday night (April 5), around 12:00 AM. The fire reportedly originated in the immigration server room of the airport.
The incident was confirmed to the media by Jishu Talukdar, Inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Sylhet. He stated that two units of the fire service were immediately dispatched to the scene and are working to bring the fire under control.
Preliminary assessments suggest the fire originated in the arrival immigration server room, located above the customs area, he added.
The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known.
Airport authorities have stated that despite the fire in the immigration server room, overall operations remain unaffected and flight movements are continuing as normal.
