  • Nationwide Exclusion for Duo After Bournemouth Hotel Rampage

A landmark judicial ruling has effectively severed two young women from the British nightlife scene following a high-profile outburst of violence.

The Legal Consequences and Future Restrictions

Kera McKeown and Larisa Sumovskaja, both 19, are now facing the immediate reality of a comprehensive six-month exclusion from every licensed premises in Britain. The ruling, delivered by District Judge Orla Austin, serves as a significant precedent for protecting service industry workers. Moving forward, the pair faces the threat of immediate imprisonment should they step foot in a pub, bar, or hotel, unless for verified employment purposes. This "social blackout" is designed to act as a definitive barrier to the repeat offending that has characterized their recent history.

The Anatomy of the Incident

The court heard how the confrontation began at 11:20 am at the Trouville Hotel in Bournemouth when the women, who were not guests, were asked to leave by receptionist Signe Ivane. The ensuing "trail of destruction" saw McKeown, described as the primary aggressor, use her high heels as weapons to batter an office door where staff had barricaded themselves for safety. The violence escalated to include the throwing of flower vases, a computer monitor, and a fire extinguisher. Beyond physical damage, the hotel reported a severe impact on staff mental health and a £4,000 loss in revenue due to damaged reputation and necessary guest refunds.

Background and Personal History

Legal representatives for the duo highlighted a history of vulnerability and neurodiversity as contributing factors. McKeown’s defense noted that this was her first formal court appearance and that the trauma of her initial arrest had deeply affected her. Sumovskaja’s council argued that a "cycle of offending"—which included prior documented run-ins with taxi drivers and nightclub staff—has finally been broken. Sumovskaja is reportedly seeking to move into stable employment to move past a history of educational struggles and mental health challenges.

Judicial Warnings and Next Steps

The women narrowly escaped immediate custody, receiving 12-week prison sentences suspended for 12 months. In addition to the nationwide ban, they must pay financial compensation to the traumatized staff members. Sumovskaja is also mandated to engage in 15 rehabilitation activity days and 12 mental health sessions to address the underlying causes of her aggression. The court has made it clear that this is their "last chance," with any further breach leading directly to a jail cell.
