A 15-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in Islington has become the second youngest person to be killed with a knife in London this year.

Police launched a murder inquiry after the attack, which took place on Westbourne Road near the junction with Sheringham Road on Tuesday (December 9) at around 1.02pm. The boy was taken to hospital but could not be saved.

He has been identified in online tributes as Adam Henry.

It has since emerged that the stabbing occurred not far from St Mary Magdalene School, where Adam had studied in Year Seven before transferring to Bridge Satellite School the following year.

Adam is believed to be the second youngest victim of a fatal stabbing in London in 2024.

Between January 1 and September 30, the capital recorded 70 homicides, a 16% decrease compared with the same period the previous year. However, Newsquest London has reported six further fatal stabbings between October and December.

The youngest fatal stabbing victim this year remains 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa, who was attacked on January 7 while travelling home on a route 472 bus in Woolwich. He was stabbed 27 times by two 16-year-olds who, according to witnesses, were “smiling” during the attack.

Passengers recalled hearing “intense screaming” from the back of the bus, and Kelyan calling out “I want my mum” as he tried to make his way downstairs.

The two teenagers responsible were sentenced to life on July 25, with minimum terms of 15 years and 10 months.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Adam’s death in Islington.
