In a stunning display of technological and artistic convergence, the world's first ultra-realistic robot artist, Ai-Da, has unveiled a remarkable new portrait of King Charles III, titled "Algorithm King." The unveiling took place at the prestigious AI For Good Summit hosted by the United Nations in Geneva, where the "Algorithm King" portrait was exhibited alongside Ai-Da's previous work: a portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II, painted to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Neither monarch sat for their respective portraits, a testament to Ai-Da's innovative capabilities.
Ai-Da, named after pioneering computer programmer Ada Lovelace, is more than just a painting machine. Created by UK art dealer Aidan Meller and built in Cornwall by Engineered Arts, Ai-Da has swiftly risen to prominence in both the art and technology worlds. Her unique artistic approach and conversational abilities have led her to speak at esteemed venues including the House of Lords, Number 10 Downing Street, and the United Nations. Her artwork has garnered international acclaim, being exhibited in prestigious institutions worldwide, from London's Tate Modern, V&A, Somerset House, and the Design Museum, to the ancient Pyramids in Egypt and the Venice Biennale.
In a landmark achievement in 2024, Ai-Da made history when one of her paintings sold at Sotheby's for an astounding $1 million, solidifying her place as a significant force in the contemporary art market.
