A Dunstable man has been handed a significant prison sentence following an investigation by specialized officers into a prolonged campaign of child sexual abuse. Paul Millard, 43, of no fixed address, appeared before the court on Friday, 26 June, where he was ordered to serve 18 years in prison, supplemented by an additional seven years on extended licence, following his conviction on ten counts relating to child sexual abuse, including four counts of rape.
The legal proceedings followed a comprehensive investigation by the Bedfordshire Police Protecting Vulnerable People team. The court heard that the abuse spanned a three-year period, during which Millard systematically used bribes to ensure the victim remained silent.
