Detectives maintain an active appeal for digital evidence while five suspects await upcoming judicial hearings following the fatal assault on Flasby Street.

The investigation into the death of 35-year-old father Suhail Choudry remains a high priority for the West Yorkshire Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) this Monday, March 9, 2026. Mr. Choudry, who died in hospital on February 11 after being found with serious head injuries on February 8, was the victim of what police have described as a targeted attack involving a group armed with weapons such as bats and sticks.

Current Status of Charged Defendants

As of Monday afternoon, five individuals are formally charged with murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and violent disorder. These men remain in high-security remand:

  • Majid Hussain (42), of Devonshire Street, Keighley.
  • Rashid Hussain (41), of Redcliffe Street, Keighley.
  • Mohammed Aliyan Khan (23), of Malsis Road, Keighley.
  • Faisal Khan (26), of Malsis Road, Keighley.
  • Hakeem Gulzar (27), of Plover Street, Keighley.

The judicial process is ongoing, with Rashid Hussain scheduled for a further hearing on March 19, 2026, at Bradford Crown Court. A provisional trial date has been set for August 17, 2026, although this remains subject to change as the complex investigation progresses.

Status of Other Arrests

The wider investigation continues to seek all those involved in the events of February 8. A 42-year-old man arrested on Monday, March 2, on suspicion of murder, along with a 32-year-old woman arrested for assisting an offender and drug offenses, were confirmed to be in custody as of the last official police update. West Yorkshire Police have not issued a fresh update on their status this morning. Additionally, a 27-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman previously arrested for assisting an offender remain on bail pending further enquiries.

Operation Pandemus and Police Appeals

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Matt Holdsworth continues to lead the probe, designated Operation Pandemus. The force is still appealing for anyone with information or digital footage—including mobile phone, CCTV, or dashcam recordings from the Flasby Street and East Avenue areas—to come forward. Detectives believe that even seemingly minor details may be vital in establishing the full timeline of the attack. Footage can be uploaded directly to the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP).

Family Tribute and Community Context

Suhail Choudry’s widow, Zara Choudry, who is currently pregnant with the couple’s third child, has publicly appealed for justice. In a verified statement released through the police, she described her husband as a man who viewed being a father as his "proudest title." The investigation continues to explore whether the attack was linked to other violent incidents reported in Keighley in the days preceding February 8, as police work to ensure a complete "Joint Enterprise" case is presented to the court.
