The first European outpost of the American franchise Slick City is scheduled to officially open its doors in Lenton on Thursday, March 12, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the UK’s indoor leisure landscape. The 50,000 sq ft facility on Redfield Road introduces a revolutionary "waterless" slide concept to the region, following the brand's rapid success across more than 30 US states.
The Nottingham site is the result of a landmark partnership between US-based Slick City Action Park and the European operator Activeon (formerly Rush Group). The facility features 16 proprietary "dry slides" designed to launch riders into the air before they land on specialized impact-absorbing mats. A centerpiece of the park is the UV AirGlider, the world’s first gravity-powered aerial coaster designed to simulate the sensation of flight.
Innovation in Indoor Leisure-The park’s "pure adrenaline" model is built on patented technology that removes water from the equation, focusing instead on velocity and "free-flight" physics. Slick City maintains that their technology is industry-defining, backed by over 60 patents and patent applications globally.
In addition to the high-adrenaline slides, the venue includes:
Air Courts: Multi-sport zones for acrobatics and competition.
Junior Zone: A dedicated soft play area for children aged three and under.
On-site Café: A viewing and refueling area for families and spectators.
The park is open to visitors as young as four years old, though children under 12 require adult supervision. To ensure a safe environment, all participants are required to sign health and safety waivers before using the attractions.
Economic Impact and European Rollout-The launch has been a boost for the local economy, creating approximately 100 new jobs in the Lenton industrial area. Management has expressed excitement about the talent pool in Nottingham, noting that the team is ready to deliver a unique experience that bridges the gap between traditional theme parks and indoor play centers.
The Nottingham opening is the first phase of an aggressive international strategy. Activeon, which operates over 70 leisure parks across Europe, plans to use the Lenton site as a flagship blueprint. Documents reveal a planned rollout of additional Slick City locations across the UK and Germany throughout the remainder of 2026.
As the March 12 opening approaches, interest in the facility has surged, with online bookings for the first month already seeing high demand. By combining high-speed thrills with all-weather accessibility, Slick City Nottingham aims to become a "one-stop destination" for weekend activities, birthday parties, and corporate events.
