West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a 39-year-old man was detained in the Keighley area today on suspicion of murder. The suspect remains in police custody for questioning as detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) continue to broaden their search for those involved in the fatal events of early February. This latest development follows the death of Mr Choudry on 11 February, three days after he was found with catastrophic head injuries following a pursuit and assault on Flasby Street.

Status of the Choudry Family- The human cost of the case remains at the forefront of the Keighley community's mind. At the time of the fatal attack, it was publicly confirmed that Suhail’s widow, Zara, was in the final stages of pregnancy with their third child. While the family has requested privacy during this period of mourning, the arrival of the newborn serves as a poignant reminder of the legacy Suhail left behind. A family representative told a journalist that Zara has shown "incredible resilience" while caring for her two young children and navigating the emotional toll of the ongoing investigation. The household continues to be supported by a community that has been left deeply shaken by the violence.

The judicial process is already moving through the higher courts. Currently, five men remain remanded in custody in connection with the killing. In recent appearances at the Crown Court, Majid Hussain, 42, and Rashid Hussain, 41, formally entered not guilty pleas to charges of murder, violent disorder, and possession of an offensive weapon. Three other defendants—Mohammed Aliyan Khan, 23, Faisal Khan, 26, and Hakeem Gulzar, 27—have not yet formally entered pleas and remain in custody. This morning's arrest of the 39-year-old suggests that police are continuing to act on forensic leads and community intelligence to ensure all parties involved in the coordinated attack are held to account.

A provisional trial date has been set for 25 January 2027 at Bradford Crown Court . Given the complexity of the case and the volume of digital evidence—including an extensive "digital map" of the pursuit captured on doorbell and dashcam footage—the court has scheduled intermediate hearings for 14 August 2026 and 5 October 2026. These sessions will be critical for the Crown Prosecution Service to finalise the evidence list against the growing number of suspects. Furthermore, a 26-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man remain under investigation on suspicion of conspiracy and assisting an offender, respectively.

Despite the recent breakthroughs, West Yorkshire Police are maintaining their appeal for information. Detectives are particularly interested in any footage or eyewitness accounts from the Flasby Street and Malsis Road area from the early hours of 8 February. "The investigation remains very much active," a source close to the inquiry told a journalist, adding that today's arrest demonstrates the police's commitment to following every available lead. Information can be submitted discreetly through the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
