August Hearing Set to Finalize Trial Track for Five Defendants

The investigation into the targeted death of 35-year-old father-of-two Suhail Choudry has reached a formalized judicial plateau following the latest proceedings at Bradford Crown Court. As of Monday morning, March 23, 2026, the West Yorkshire Homicide and Major Enquiry Team has pivoted from active arrests to a complex disclosure window. This period is dedicated to finalizing the forensic and digital evidence files that will be served to the defense teams representing the five men currently in high-security remand.

The Unified Prosecution Strategy

The legal proceedings regarding the February 8 ambush on Flasby Street are moving toward a critical case management hearing scheduled for August 14, 2026. This hearing will serve to definitively synchronize the trial arrangements for Rashid Hussain, 41; Majid Hussain, 42; Mohammed Aliyan Khan, 23; Faisal Khan, 26; and Hakeem Gulzar, 27. While a January 2027 trial date was previously discussed, the judiciary is now evaluating a provisional trial window of October 5, 2026, at Sheffield Crown Court to manage the forensic complexity of the multi-defendant case.

Forensic Disclosure and Evidence Package

Under the investigation title Operation Pandemus, detectives are currently deep-mining digital evidence packages. This exhaustive file includes cell-site analysis and CCTV synchronization intended to map the coordinated movements of the group prior to the assault. The prosecution aims to provide a unified digital narrative that links each of the five defendants to the incident where Mr. Choudry was assaulted with bats and sticks. All five men remain in custody pending the outcome of the August management hearing.

Active Public Appeals and Family Vigil

Despite the case moving into the courtroom, West Yorkshire Police maintain an active appeal via the Major Incident Public Portal for any dashcam or doorbell footage from the Flasby Street vicinity between 2:45 AM and 3:30 AM on the night of the attack. Suhail’s widow, Zara Choudry, who is currently expecting the couple’s third child, continues to be supported by Family Liaison Officers. Her recent tribute described Suhail as a man whose proudest title was being a father, reinforcing the community’s continued focus on the pursuit of justice as the case enters its summer disclosure phase.
