£300 Cost of Living payments announced for people on four DWP benefits

Eligible households across the UK, including those in Doncaster, will receive new cost of living payments of up to £300 through the Household Support Fund, administered by local councils using funds from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Payments are structured as follows:

  • £100 for households with 1 dependent child

  • £200 for households with 2 dependent children

  • £300 for households with 3 or more dependent children
    (Dependent children are those for whom Child Benefit is received.)

Additionally, a £100 one-time payment for energy bills will be issued to eligible households, with or without children.

To qualify, households must be receiving Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Universal Credit with housing support, or means-tested free school meals.

Automatic Payments:

If you received this support previously and your eligibility is confirmed, you don’t need to reapply—the payment will be made using your previously provided bank details.

Include: your name, NI number, full address, bank sort code, account number, and account holder name.

Manual Applications:

  • If your eligibility cannot be verified, you’ll need to reapply.

  • If you haven’t received this support before, you must apply if you meet the criteria.

Payments to eligible households with children are expected on or around 15 July 2025.
