Pregnant 'Cleaner' Burglar Swipes £500k Jewels from London Mansion

A pregnant woman who brazenly posed as a cleaner has admitted to a daring burglary, making off with a staggering £500,000 worth of jewellery from what is reportedly London's second-largest private residence. Luminita Zamfir, 24, exploited the trust of staff at the £105 million central London mansion in February, claiming she was there for a trial shift arranged by an agency.

Despite the high-security presence of former royal protection officers, Zamfir managed to snatch a haul of precious items, including rings, necklaces, and earrings valued at £548,565, belonging to a wealthy family. Her criminal spree didn't end there. Zamfir also confessed to two further burglaries, targeting the homes of housing boss Sean Gorvy and a property magnate couple, from whom she stole watches, cufflinks, and cash.

Remarkably, despite leaving behind a tissue and being captured on CCTV, none of the stolen goods have been recovered. Zamfir, who has a history of four previous convictions for burglary and shoplifting, gave birth last month while in custody. She now faces a significant jail sentence after pleading guilty to three counts of burglary at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday.

Appearing via video link from HMP Bronzefield while holding her newborn, Zamfir heard Judge Noel Lucas KC emphasize the gravity of her crimes. He urged her to reveal the location of the stolen items, suggesting it would be a powerful mitigating factor during her sentencing on June 11.

Dhaneshwar Sharma, defending Zamfir, had to translate the proceedings for his client due to the absence of an interpreter. In a brief statement, he noted the absence of her husband as a significant detail. The mystery surrounding the whereabouts of the substantial loot continues to deepen as Zamfir awaits her sentence.
