UK police are investigating a small fire that broke out at Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s north London home in the early hours of Monday, according to Politico. The London Fire Brigade responded to the incident at 1:11 am (local time) and quickly extinguished the flames.
No injuries were reported, but the front door sustained damage, and police remain on the scene with a cordon in place. A neighbor described hearing a single, loud bang that sounded like a "firebomb" and possibly shattering glass.
Counterterrorism police are involved in the investigation, treating the fire as suspicious. Despite residing at Downing Street as Prime Minister, Starmer still retains his north London property.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed that firefighters were called to a small fire outside a residence in Kentish Town, with two fire engines from the local station attending the scene.
The Metropolitan Police stated that they were alerted by the London Fire Brigade at 1:35 am regarding the fire.
Downing Street said that Starmer expressed his gratitude to the emergency services but could not provide further comment due to the ongoing investigation.
