As a large number of police and security personnel were deployed, no major untoward incident happened this time at the central Shaheed Minar in Altab Ali Park, London. Abida Islam, High Commissioner of Bangladesh appointed to the UK, UK BNP, and UK Awami League laid wreaths in the first hour of 21st February. When Awami League leader, Sylhet's former mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, went to pay his tribute, the BNP activists started chanting vua vua slogans.
Later, when he went to address the media, security personnel stopped him. At least five hundred activists of BNP and Awami League gathered at Shaheed Minar at Altab Ali Park in East London. Apart from BNP, Awami League, and various social and political organizations, paid tribute in Shaheed Minar.
It is to be noted that the leaders of UK BNP went to Tower Hamlets Council and held a meeting to exclude Awami League activists from the Shaheed Minar Committee. Since two days ago, the council and the police have coordinated various measures to avoid any untoward situation.
